Marilyn Monroe did not ever in her lifetime have 6 toes on either foot.
She was born June 1, 1926 a healthy baby with ten fingers and ten toes.
She died August 5, 1962 with these same 10 fingers and 10 toes.
Attached is a series of pictures that documents the life of her feet from
child to adult and even in death that will prove she never had an extra toe.
First, the background as to how this rumor came about. Photographer Joseph
Jasgur photographed young Norma Jeane before she became Marilyn Monroe at the
age of 20 in the year 1946. On March 18, 1946, Joe Jasgur took Norma Jeane
to Zuma Beach, California for a photo shoot. One photograph from this shoot
came out looking like Norma Jeane had a sixth toe on her left foot due to a
clump of sand sticking to her foot.
(Photo #1)
On March 23, 1946 Joe again took Norma Jeane to Zuma Beach for more photos. These
photos taken only 5 days later clearly show Norma Jeane with only 5 toes on
her left foot. When Joseph Jasgur decided to publish these photos in a book
entitled "The Birth of Marilyn: The Lost Photographs of Norma Jeane By
Joseph Jasgur" he stated this lie: Norma Jeane had six toes and I can
prove it with this picture on pages 72 and 73.
The only problem with this is that there is an abundance of pictures of
Marilyn Monroe with only five toes per foot, one of which is on page 86 of
Joseph Jasgur's same book, the photo taken only 5 days after the "six toe"
picture. That extra toe didn't just fall off in five days! Nor did it grow
especially for Joe to photograph on March 18, 1946. It was never there.
Unfortunately, the six toe rumor has spread and been taken as truth by so
many. Even Ripley's Believe It Or Not has reported that Marilyn Monroe had
six toes. It is really sad that because one man told a lie to make some
money, poor Marilyn, gone from us now for 40 years (God rest her beautiful
soul) is now made out to be a six toed freak by so many people.
Instead of newspapers and such printing good things about her to the many
readers who know little of her, the print about Marilyn involves deformities
etc. The worst part is that it's not true or accurate. Believe it or not,
there are surprising and interesting things about Marilyn Monroe that are
good things, and they could even be used in a "Did You Know?" section.
