Troubleshooting Tips
If you have difficulty accessing the chat room through those links, you may
try using this
alternate link
Some computer browsers may not be able to view the Chat Room properly, due to a corrupted installation
of the Java software on their computers.
If your Java is working correctly, the Chat Room should appear like this on your screen...
If the chat room doesn't look like that on your screen, then you are receiving the HTML version instead
of the Java version.
To correct the problem, first do a Search or Find on your computer's hard drive, and locate and
delete all file names containing "chatspace"
These files may be in your Windows folder or sub-folders, including your Temporary Internet Files, and Cookies.
After deleting the chatspace files, click here
to download a clean version of the Java Virtual Machine software which is required for your
computer to access the Chat Room properly.
1) Download the file and save it to your harddrive.
2) Once the file is on your harddrive, execute it and thus load the Virtual Machine.
3) As the file begins execution, answer Yes to the License Agreement question and then once complete,
re-boot your PC.
4) Once the PC is re-booted Java should be good to go.
Now, go to the Chat Room, using A DIFFERENT LINK than the one you used before. If you have used
the www.marilynchat.com link, then use
http://sites.chatspace.com:8399/ now instead, or
.versa. You should now see the Sign On Screen.
Now click on Options and set the Client Preference to Java, and check the box to remember your options,
and then click on OK.
You should now be able to sign-on with your user name and password.
